Our design services include, but are not limited to:
• Advice and recommendations
• Technical information
These are provided by any method whether it be in writing, verbally or by demonstration.
Hi-Tech Enviro was one of the first companies to apply for the ‘Farm Dairy Effluent System Design Accredited’ programme developed by DairyNZ and the wider dairy industry. We were one of the first companies in New Zealand to become accredited in February 2012.
The quality and depth of service we provide to farmers is facilitated by the high level of involvement we have with organisations involved in dairy effluent knowledge and compliance around the country.
We were active participants of the advisory and technical groups which generated the ‘Code of Practice’ and ‘Design Standards’ for Dairy Effluent systems. We also contributed to the development of the publications “A farmer’s guide to building a new effluent storage pond” and “Farm Dairy Effluent Pond Design and Construction” Practice Note 21. Regular articles are also published on management of dairy effluent.
The Hi-Tech Enviro team are regular attendees and contributors at industry field days on dairy effluent systems and work closely with regional councils to advance understanding of environmental best practice.
We also provided feedback for the development of industry standards for pond design and construction and are involved in the ongoing development of the industry ‘storage calculator’. Hi-Tech Enviro has conducted audits of existing systems for farmers and corporates with large-scale dairy conversions involving thousands of cows.
Warrant of Fitness (WOF) for your current dairy effluent system Hi-Tech Enviro team is uniquely qualified to provide farmers with a WOF assessment of the current dairy effluent system to evaluate what, if any, improvements should be made – and then ensures remedial work is done by industry trained and qualified professionals.
The Hi-Tech Enviro WOF is a full three to four hour on-farm assessment of the dairy effluent system by trained professionals who conform to a consistent methodology. This is followed by further analysis and research resulting in a full report showing any areas of concern and recommendations for improvement.
The Hi-Tech Enviro WOF assessor will:
• Assess the farm’s effluent consent or permitted rules to ensure compliance.
• View the nutrient budget to understand nitrogen loadings
• Enlist the dairy effluent storage calculator to assess suitability of current storage
• Assess all equipment, catchment areas, particularly stand-offs and feedpads
• Test and rate the application depth and condition of irrigation equipment
• Dig a test pit to observe soil risk and obtain other soil data if available
• Identify Hazards and Health and Safety requirements
